Teagasc, Irish Agriculture and Food Develeopment Authority.

Teagasc (WP6) is the designated Coordinator of ERA-GAS and familiar with the operation of ERA-NETs and the rules and procedures associated with co-funded calls. Furthermore, Teagasc has participated in research funding calls for the ICT-AGRI ERA-NET (3 calls), Ruragri ERA-NET (1 call) and the ERA-NET+ on Climate Smart Agriculture (1 co-funded call). Teagasc; Irish Agriculture and Food Develeopment Authority. Teaagsc is the national body providing integrated research, education, advisory and training services to the agriculture and food industry and rural communities.Teagasc combines research excellence in the area of food and agriculture with a dedicated farmer extension/advisory service (45,000 farmer clients) and a department dedicated to technology transfer to the food industry (250 client companies).

The Teagasc annual research portfolio comprises some 300 research projects, carried out by 500 scientific and technical staff in six research centres throughout Ireland. Research is organised into four programme areas: Animal and Grassland Research and Innovation; Crops, Environment and Land Use; Food; Rural Economy and Development. Teagasc’s mission is to support science-based innovation in the agri-food sector and wider bioeconomy so as to underpin profitability, competitiveness and sustainability.

Teagasc researchers have access to more than 1,250 hectares of experimental farm, cutting edge research laboratories and strong industry partnerships.  As well as being a research performer, Teagasc is also a research funder and has operated the Walsh Fellowship (studentship) programme for many years.  Teagasc is coordinating the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action cofund fellowship programme Research Leaders 2025. Teagasc is a member of the Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE) Joint Programming Initiative, coordinates the FACCE ERA-GAS ERA-NET and is a member of many other ERA-NETs.
